The committee of Party affairs, chaired by the Minister of the Interior, General Mohammad Al Sha’ar, studied the documents submitted by the founders of the Promise Party.
The documents were referred to two daily newspapers to publish them for a week. The committee also studied the yearly aid allocated to political parties according to articles 15, 16 and 17 of the law of party affairs, in order to enlist them in the budget of next year. The licensed parties approved by the committee included the Syrian National Democratic Party of Solidarity and Development, The Arab Democratic Party, The Syrian National Youth, The National Youth of Justice and Development, The Party of the Syrian Homeland and Popular Will, in addition to the parties of The National Progressive Front. Thus, the number of licensed parties in Syria has risen to 20 so far
