President Bashar Al-Assad has addressed a word, through the People's Army magazine, to our armed forces, on the sixty-seventh anniversary of the establishment of the Syrian Arab Army.

The president commended the courage of the armed forces, whether soldiers or officers,  praising their sacrifices for the homeland, their bravery and non hesitation in protecting the country and full confidence in victory, as they are set on making a brilliant, prosperous future for upcoming generations.

The president greeted the army on the 67th anniversary of its establishment, hailing the Syrian army’s perseverance in defying the odds, recalling its battles of honor and heroism in defense of the homeland’s sovereignty and dignity. His Excellency underlined the army’s march of struggle for more than half a century and its prominent role in safeguarding the nation’s identity of civilization and social, cultural and intellectual components.

The president pointed out that the battle against the enemy is multi-formed, with clear objectives and features, on which the fate of our people, and their past, present and future depend.

The enemy, the president pointed out, has used its stooges inside the homeland as a means to deal a blow to the homeland’s stability, shake up citizens’ security and undermine our economic potentials and academic expertise, in a bid to weaken us and hinder our future progress.

They were astonished; however, the president went on, when they found this courageous people unified in the face of their schemes, and adamant in defeating them. They started to look for other ways out of their defeats to work out other plots to target the steadfastness of our country and to assign the task of implementing them to their local agents.

President Al-Assad affirmed that the armed forces, in their confrontation of the war on our country and the crimes of the terrorist gangs, have proved to be of strong determination, capable of defending the people’s values entrusted in them.

The president called on the armed forces to continue to be the homeland’s shield and fortress, expressing his own confidence and the confidence of the people in them, and greeting the souls of our martyrs, and their families and wishing speedy recovery for the wounded army personnel.
