Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the United States should clarify its position regarding the initiative of holding an international conference on the situation in Syria.
Lavrov's remarks came in a statement on Monday ahead of a meeting with his U.S. counterpart John Kerry on the sidelines of a meeting of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) foreign ministers in Brunei.
" We expect, during our meeting, more clarity as to what is the U.S. position with respect to our joint initiative on Syria [Geneva II Conference]", the Minister said.
Lavrov and Kerry met in Moscow last May 7 and agreed to hold an international conference to resolve the crisis in Syria based on understandings which were agreed upon in Geneva Statement.
