Moscow on Sunday affirmed that the solution to the crisis in Syria should be political through an extensive dialogue and without preconditions.
“The special representative to the Russian President, deputy foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov held consultations in that regard with a number of opposition figures in Geneva on 20, 21 of December in the Russian permanent Representation at the UN in Geneva,” a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
It added that the talks concentrated on the latest developments in Syria and preparations for holding Geneva 2 conference due on January 22nd.
“The two sides pointed out to the need for solving the crisis in Syria politically, as soon as possible through a Syrian comprehensive dialogue without any preconditions.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Saturday that “no one wants dialogue with the terrorists or extremists in Syria.”
