Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdullahian stressed that Iran will continue actively the political solution in Syria with the participation of the Unite Nations, saying "we think that the solution for the crisis in Syria is political only and the UN could play an affective role in this regard."
"Time of the armed terrorist groups in Syria is bygone," Abdullahian told Iranian IRNA News Agency on Sunday, stressing his country\'s highlighting of the political solution to this crisis.
In a similar context, Abdullahian said that his country is formulating a four-article initiative to be discussed with the UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, who is visiting Tehran, in order to be proposed to parties relevant to the crisis in Syria.
The senior official said that the Iranian initiative depends on the facts of the political solution for the crisis in Syria, as it also stresses that the Syrian national sovereignty and the Syrian people\'s opinion through democratic elections.
Earlier, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said during his meeting with Brahimi that the UN should adhere to non-alignment, calling upon the UN Security Council to confront the phenomenon of sending terrorists to Syria from abroad
