Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed in a phone call with the UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi Monday a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria.
Lavrov stressed the need for resuming talks between the delegations of Syrian government and the opposition, according to a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry published by ITAR-TASS News Agency.
The second round of Geneva talks between the delegations of the Syrian Arab Republic and the opposition finished on 15th February with the attendance of Brahimi without reaching an agreement on a draft agenda although the Syrian Arab Republic\'s delegation agreed on it.
Bogdanov, Ambassador Haddad tackle means of reaching political solution
In the same context, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad means of reaching a political solution to the crisis in the country.
The two sides tackled all aspects related to reaching a political solution to the crisis, in addition to the situation in the region and the pressing issues of the Syrian-Russian relations.
Russia: Lavrov to discuss with Lebanese counterpart situation in Syria next Thursday
Russian Foreign Ministry said that the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will meet Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Gebran Bassil Thursday to discuss the situation in Syria and the Middle East in General.
" Minister Bassil is going to pay a work visit to Moscow between 23 to 25 of April, upon the invitation of the Minister Lavrov, " the Ministry\'s statement said Tuesday.
The two sides are expected to discuss mutual relations and regional and international issues including the situation in Syria.
"The two sides are to discuss means of concerting efforts for finding a solution to the crisis in Syria by the Syrians themselves in the framework of the international conference of Geneva2 on Syria on the basis of Geneva Communique issued on 30th of June, 2012," The statement added.
