Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that realizing peace and counterterrorism are Iran and Russia’s top political priority for solving the crisis in Syria, Iranian News Agency (IRNA) reported Monday.
Upon his arrival in Moscow to participate in Moscow Caspian Sea Littoral States Foreign Ministers Conference, Zarif said that Tehran and Moscow are holding regular consultations regarding Iran’s nuclear file and the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly the situation in Syria as considered one of the most important regional issues.
Later, on the sidelines of the Conference, Zarif discussed with Russia\'s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov the bilateral relations, combating terrorism and regional issues of mutual concern.
Lavrov said that the meeting was a good opportunity to exchange views on consolidating bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Tehran on many issues, particularly Iranian nuclear file and the Middle East issues.
Moscow meeting aims at paving the way for holding the summit of the Sea Littoral States in Russia later.
