Syria, WHO discuss cooperation for meeting health needs
Damascus, SANA
Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Amer al-Mardini discussed with head of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional office, Dr. Alaa-Eddin Alwan joint cooperation in the health sector and meeting health needs under the current circumstances.
Al-Mardini pointed to the WHO efforts in answering health needs and easing the provision of badly-needed drugs.
Al-Mardini gave a review of the situation of university hospitals and the damage caused to them due to terror attacks on infrastructure, vowing that health and educational services won’t stop at university hospitals.
Dr. al-Alwan, for his part, underlined the international organization’s intent on supporting university hospitals to provide health and educational services and ease the access of medical services to those in need.
The two sides agreed to outline a work plan for cooperation in medical education by organizing medical courses in building capacities for medical and nursing cadres.
