A message from President Bashar al-Assad to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, conveyed by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem to brief the leadership in Algeria on the latest developments in Syria and to make use of Algerian expertise in the field of civil accord and reconciliation.

President Bouteflika received on Wednesday al-Moallem at the presidential palace where talks dealt with the developments in the region, the crisis in Syria and the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army in the battlefield.

Discussions also concentrated on the efforts of resolving the crisis and combating the plague of destructive terrorism that Syria suffers from as Algeria and Syria stand in one trench against terrorism.

The Algerian President asked al-Moallem to convey his best wishes to President al-Assad, hoping Syria would overcome the crisis to return to its pioneering role in the region and the world.

Earlier, al-Moallem held a session of talks with Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation RAMTANE LAMAMRA, during which the two sides affirmed the stance of both countries in the fight against terrorism and commitment to respecting sovereignty and stability of the two brotherly states.

They also discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, education and technology, agreeing to hold a meeting for the follow-up committee after two weeks, reviewing the political stances of both countries.

In a statement to the press following the meeting, al-Moallem described his visit to Algiers as “successful and fruitful,” hailing the interest given by the Algerian leadership to the necessity for solving the crisis in Syria as soon as possible.

He added “I touched a deep knowledge at the Algerian officials on what is taking place in Syria and this is an indication that the leadership in Algeria is interested in solving the crisis in Syria.”

Al-Moallem pointed out to the sacrifices offered by the Syrian people and the Syrian Arab army, hoping they are crowned with a political solution to the crisis in Syria, affirming on preserving Syria’s territorial integrity.

He stressed that the delegation of the Syrian Arab republic will attend the upcoming round of the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva.

LAMAMRA, for his part described al-Moallem’s visit as “normal,” hailing the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

“Syria is passing through a special stage of its contemporary history,” Lamamra said, pointing out to “the positive indicators” that feature the track of the Syrian-Syrian dialogue.

He added that the situation in Syria is developing towards the best and there is a cessation of hostilities and a desire by the Syrian brothers to get acquainted with Algeria’s expertise in the national reconciliation
