Russian Foreign Ministry expresses concern over situation on the Syrian- Turkish borders and calls on Turkey to coordinate with Syria regarding fighting terrorism
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the Turkish regime to coordinate the fight against terrorism with the Syrian government on the border between the two countries.

A diplomatic source in the ministry said that the Russian officials see the importance of the fight against terrorism in the border areas between Syria and Turkey more than ever, but at the same time they emphasize the importance of coordinating Ankara’s activities with Damascus because that is the most important factor in the effectiveness of these actions.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the situation on the Syrian- Turkish borders and the possibility of deterioration of the security situation after the incursion by the Turkish tanks inside the Syrian territories towards Jarablus city accompanied by terrorist groups with a coverage of warplanes of Washington-led alliance.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the possibility of further deterioration of the situation in the conflict zone raises concern, including the possibility of civilian casualties and escalating disputes between Kurds and Arabs.

The statement stressed the need to settle the crisis in Syria on the basis of international law and through a broad dialogue among the Syrians with the participation of all groups including the Kurds on the basis of the principles of Geneva statement issued on June 30th. 2012, resolution No. 2254 and other Security Council resolutions which were taken by an initiative of International Support Syria Group.

Earlier on Wednesday, Turkish tanks and armored vehicles crossed the Syrian-Turkish borders towards Jarablos city under cover of the US-led alliance’s air forces in order to wrest the city from the control of ISIS terrorist organization and deliver it to other terrorist groups that operate under the command of Washington and Ankara.
