The 2017 Indian Cultural Days opened in Lattakia
The Indian Odissi dance group opened the 2017 Indian Cultural Days in Syria at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Lattakia.

Indian dancer Janhabi Behera, accompanied by four players, performed dances stemmed from the Indian heritage and culture.

Assistant Culture Minister Tawfiq al-Imam said that Syria has always been the cradle of civilization, underlining the stances of India in support to the Syrian people against terrorism.

He indicated that the ministry is looking forward to activate cultural cooperation with India serving the interest of the people in the two countries.

Representative of the Indian Embassy in Damascus Sanjay Nehru said organizing this event shows the deep Syrian-Indian relations, expressing hope that the Syrians would enjoy the activities which include Indian classical dances and 10 Bollywood Hindi movies.

Behera, in a statement to SANA, said that the group had great time and experience in Syria, thanking all staff and the Syrian people for all this hospitality and warm welcome despite the difficult circumstances.

Head of Culture Directorate in Lattakia Majd Sarem said that the festivity came within the ministry’s efforts to enhance cultural exchange with the friendly countries.
