President Bashar al-Assad on Monday received a delegation representing the Arab regional leaderships that participated in 14th National Conference of Al-Baath Arab Socialist Party which concluded its activities on Sunday.
Discussions during the meeting touched on the results of the conference, particularly forming a national council consisting of representatives from Arab countries, with President al-Assad saying that the forming of this council reflects the dynamic thinking of Al-Baath Party which is still able to adapt to surrounding conditions without relinquishing its principles.
His Excellency noted that this radical shift in the organizational formula reflects the party’s ability to meet the demands of the changing times and at the same time consecrates the importance of pan-Arabism and the role of Al-Baath Party in confronting the attacks targeting pan-Arabism which seeks to divide Arab people on sectarian and ethnic bases.
President al-Assad underlined the importance of the wide-scale participation of the council’s components in establishing a national convention for Al-Baath that suits changes and developments, takes into account the unique nature of each country, and addresses young generations in a modern language that fits the challenges imposed in the current stage, challenges which are very different from previous ones.
In turn, the delegation members affirmed the importance of renewal in the organizational formula and the intellectual system of Al-Baath Party since renewal is one of its key features, saying that shifting from a centralized state to a partnership-based administration is an important step for revitalizing the party and ensuring that it will continue to play its role on the Arab arena.
The members also voiced solidarity with Syria in the face of the war that targets it and seeks to undermine its pan-Arab course and independent decision-making.
