Syrian officials offer condolences to Tehran over death of Iranians in latest terror attacks
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran organized a condolence assembly at its headquarters in Damascus mourning the martyrs of the two terrorist attacks which targeted the Iranian Shura Council building and Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum last week.

Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hadiyeh Abbas offered deep condolences to the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Javad Torkabadi, and made a record in the book of condolences at the Embassy.

She condemned the terrorist attacks carried out against Syria and Iran, adding that they will enhance the two countries’ determination to combat terrorism and root up the takfiri mentality.

Abbas highly appreciated Iran’s stances that support Syria and consolidate the steadfastness of its people, expressing hope that Syria, in cooperation with its allies and friends, will inevitably defeat terrorism and achieve victory.

Presidential Political and Media Adviser Bouthaina Shaaban, State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad and Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun also offered their condolences and made a record in the condolence book.

In a statement to the journalists, Shaaban hailed the Syrian army and its allies’ great achievement as they reached the Syrian-Iraqi borders, as well as what has been achieved by the Iraqi forces, noting that this achievement will change the situation on the ground and the whole region.

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikdad stressed that the only way to defeat terrorism is to join the efforts exerted by Syria, Iran, Russia and Hezbollah.

In turn, Mufti Hassoun said that Iran is conveying a message to the entire world that it stands by the people in Palestine and Syria whatever the cost was.

Ambassador Torkabadi stressed that Syria and Iran will continue to fight terrorism which targets their people, adding that terrorists will be defeated and the achievements made by the Syrian army set clear evidence on such end.

On June 7th, 17 civilians were killed and 40 others got injured in two terrorist attacks which targeted the Iranian Shura Council building and Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum in the Iranian Capital, Tehran.
