Lavrov and al-Moallem to meet on sidelines of UN General Assembly session
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem will meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session which will be held this month in New York, according to Russian President’s special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

Speaking to journalists, Bogdanov said that meetings of this kind in such cases will be held on the sidelines of the work of the Assembly, which are traditional meetings and Russian and Syrian foreign ministers will certainly meet.

He added that Moscow hopes that the upcoming round of intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva will witness a “direct dialogue” between the delegation of Syrian Arab Republic and the “opposition delegation”, asserting that there is a “chance” to that to happen and that the things are going “in the right direction”.
