The senior adviser to Iranian Revolution Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, stressed that Syria and Iran are strategic allies in the resistance axis against terrorism.
Velayati made his remarks during a visit along with an accompanying delegation to Aleppo where they met Governor Hussein Diab.
He praised the steadfastness of Aleppo people in confronting takfiri terrorist organizations and thwarting their attempts to annihilate Syria’s great civilization and history.
Velayati reiterated the Iranian government and people’s support to the Syrian people under all circumstances, expressing his country’s willingness to take part in rebuilding Syria and further enhance bilateral cooperation in economic, industrial and scientific sectors.
In turn, Governor Diab briefed Velayati and the accompanying delegation on the government’s efforts to rehabilitate terror-affected facilities and infrastructure.
The visit included Aleppo University where the two sides signed a memo of understanding on joint cooperation between Aleppo University and the Iranian Islamic Azad University, with Velayati expressing keenness on consolidating scientific and academic cooperation between Syrian and Iranian universities and exchanging delegations as well as scientific and educational expertise.
