Petroleum Ministryís performance discussed at People Assembly
The People’s Assembly discussed on Tuesday during a session chaired by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh the performance of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the others issues related to its work.

A number of MPs called on the Ministry to increase allocations of oil derivatives to the provinces, achieve equality in distributing them, strengthen the control on fuel stations, and speed up the application of the smart card, in addition to establishing more fuel stations.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Ghanem said that the Supervisory bodies monitor the stations and control any cases of manipulation of prices or quantity, indicating that the distribution of the oil products is carried out according to the registration lists and the smart card in the provinces which have started using it.

Ghanem said that until today, 195 milion liters of oil derivatives have been distributed, and that the number of the beneficiary families reached 1.3 million families, which is the highest distribution percentage compared to previous years.

He clarified that there are 126 computerized fuel stations in the provinces, and that the Ministry will increase the production of gas and oil as well as exploration and drilling operations in order to provide the needs of citizens and the various productive sectors including the industrial and agricultural sectors, in addition to implementing plans to rehabilitate oil and gas sites.
