Security Council postpones vote on draft resolution on cessation of hostilities in Syria till Saturday
The UN Security Council on Friday decided to postpone a vote on a draft resolution submitted by Sweden and Kuwait on the cessation of hostilities in Syria till Saturday.

Sources at the UN said that the postponement came due to the continuation of consultations among the 15 member states of the Council with the aim of reaching a consensual formula.

In turn, UN sources said that the 10 non-permanent states support the compatibility while the Western states are tampering with the concept of flexibility.

Earlier on Thursday, during a session of the Security Council on the draft resolution, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that endangering the lives of 8 million civilians in Damascus in order to protect terrorists in Eastern Ghouta is unacceptable act.

Al-Jaafari indicated that the UN General Secretariat has participated in the misleading campaign launched by some states to protect a few thousands of the terrorist groups’ members.
