The Committee members discussed the funds allocated for the investment projects of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for 2015, amounting to 10 billion and 524 million pounds. The Chairman of the Committee Hussein Hassoun referred to the decline in the role of the oil sector in the state budget as a result of systematic attacks by the armed terrorist groups targeting this sector, the fact reflected itself on the economic and social life of the Syrian people. He called on the members of the Commission to secure the fuels and prevent exploitation and brokering of the need of people, hence ensure equitable distribution of diesel which is allocated for heating houses, taking into account the weather conditions of each region and the need to put the smart card in service to ensure equitable distribution of diesel among people. Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Suleiman Al Abbas referred to the size of the damages and losses of the oil sector and mineral wealth and the size of the services offered by the ministry. His Excellency confirmed that the firm Hayyan is back to servicewith a capacity of 5.2 million cubic meters. He also mentioned that Al Shaer station for gas will be back in service in a week, whereas AL Muher station will need a period of two months due to the huge damages occurred there. Mr. Al Abbas drew the attention that the acute shortage in the amounts of domestic gas is a result of the economic sanctions imposed by the west which delayed the arrival of oil and gas tankers to the Syrian ports.
