Hasaka, WFP discuss launching small projects targeting displaced people
Governor of Hasaka province Jayez al-Hammoud al-Moussa discussed on Monday with Head of Area Office at the World Food Program (WFP) Khaled al-Qudsi means to enhance cooperation between the two sides, particularly in the field of launching small projects that contribute to improving citizens’ livelihoods.

The Governor affirmed the necessity of expanding the program of improving livelihoods through establishing small projects that help generate income for the targeted citizens, highlighting the need to increase the number of food packages provided by the WFP to meet the needs of displaced people in the province, in addition to the need to find local solutions to overcome the difficulty of transporting food substances by air to the province.

In turn, al-Qudsi said that the WFP provide 37000 food packages last month that have been distributed by the sub-relief committee among the targeted families, in addition to the distribution of 1200 urgent food packages to the families who arrived at Mabrouka Camp in the western countryside of Hasaka.

He added that the WFP, in cooperation with the local charities, delivered food aid to displaced families who arrived from Raqqa province to the areas of Slouk, Tal Abyad and Ayn Essa in Raqqa countryside.

He pointed out that the WFP also provided 20 tons of yeast to bakeries in the province of Hasaka and will provide 10 other tons during the upcoming period, adding that the WFP is studying the possibility of granting food purchase coupons to 2,400 families in the cities of Hasaka and Qamishli.

The sub-relief committee in Hasaka, in cooperation with WFP, distributes about 37000 food packages per month to the needy families in the province.
