The Syrian Government raised the price of gas cylinder (gas jar) to SYP400 instead of SYP250 on Friday. Deputy Minister of Economy Imad Al-Aseel confirmed the increase of gas cylinder price to SYP400.
The Director of Internal Trade in Aleppo, Mohammed Hannouche said in his statement to the press "We received a faxed copy of the memo and circulated it”, Mr. Hannouch believes that this decision will help end the gas crisis, by preventing unauthorized dealing cars from profiting from this.
He also stated that the new rate is still less than the actual cost of the cylinder. and said "The cost of gas cylinder is over SYP500, and that the distribution price of SYP400 means that the material is still subsidized by the government."
