Damascus - Prime Minister, Adel Safar, and Director of the Middle East Region at Total Company for Oil Exploration and Production, Arno Breyak, on Tuesday discussed prospects of cooperation, stressing the importance of establishing a long-term partnership between Total and the Syrian oil companies.
Talks during the meeting dealt with the status of production and projects being carried out by Total Company in Syria, as well as its future plans to develop the domains of its activity in Syria.
Premier Safar stressed the government's support for the entire activities of Total to overcome the obstacles hindering its activity, highlighting Total’s competence and technical experience in exploring gas and oil.
For his part, Breyak affirmed his company's constant adherence to its work in Syria, expressing desire to enhance Total's standing projects and activity through carrying out more projects of exploration in new oil sectors.
Safar reviews with ICARDA Director-General the Center's Activities, supporting agricultural sector
In a similar meeting, Safar reviewed with Director General of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), Mahmoud al-Sulh, the Center’s programs and its scientific activities.
The two sides underlined the importance of benefiting from the outcomes of the conferences, researches and production experiments in supporting the agricultural sector, combating blights and introducing new high-productivity species that can resist the climatic factors.
Al-Sulh spoke highly about the Syrian government's support for ICARDA which enables it to play its role and perform its tasks and duties.
Safar, Khoury discuss means of enhancing Syrian-Lebanese relations
Earlier, Safar met Secretary-General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council, Nasri Khoury.
Talks during the meeting focused on the close relations binding the two brotherly countries and means of beefing them up to achieve the common interests and the development process of both countries, as well as security and stability.
