Vice President Najah al-Attar  awarded Historian Mohammad Mhaffil the Syrian Order of Merit of the Excellent degree, granted by President Bashar al-Assad

in appreciation of Dr. Mhaffil's important achievements in the Syrian and the Levant history studies.

President al-Assad issued a decree on June 5th offering Dr. Mihfil, the member in the Arabic Language Academy, the Syrian Order of Merit for his great achievements in historic researches. 

Dr. Attar said that honoring  Dr. Mhaffil is an honor for all those who worked and still work in the human studies as well as an honor for  researchers and talented writers who deserve such tribute.

For his part, Dr. Mhaffil said in his word that six decades after finishing his academic degree in 1953, he looks forward to the future to do more to Arab language and culture.
