The Cabinet discusses economic and service issues
The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of economic and service issues, including mechanisms for monitoring the distribution of petroleum products in all provinces, and improving the situation of internal public transport.

The cabinet denounced the terrorist bombings and shelling attacks that hit Aleppo city, Damascus countryside, Hama countryside, and Idleb, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a swift recovery.

On economic affairs, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi said that foreign currency reserves are improved on daily basis and that millions of dollars are flowing to the Central Bank of Syria (CBS) through revenues of exports, money orders, and of profitable establishments, with the Premier asserting that the situation of the Syrian Pound is stable and the Syrian economy is strong.

Concerning the services sector, al-Halaqi called for providing internal public transport buses, and asked the Ministry of Agriculture and the authorities concerned to take the deterrent measures against those who try to damage the forestry or start forest fires.

Al-Halaqi directed the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral resources and the ministries concerned to oversee the mechanisms for the distribution of petroleum products and supervise the process of distribution, stressing the need to curb the smuggling of petroleum products and prevent shortages.

For his part, Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim al-Shaar briefed the Cabinet on the preliminary results of investigation into the fire that erupted on Saturday in al-Asroniyeh area in the Old City in Damascus, asserting that the Ministry will update the cabinet on the final findings once the investigation is finished.

The Cabinet took the necessary steps to issue a draft law on amending the law for organizing the agricultural engineering profession, in addition to a draft law on Syria joining the Convention on the International Return of Stolen or Illegally Exported Cultural Objects issued by the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) in 1995.
