Updated-Premier Khamis affirms the need for boosting economic relations with Iran

Prime Minister Emad Khamis said on Wednesday that the victory in Aleppo and in all Syrian land is an overthrow to the US-West project in the region and a victory for the resistance axis.

Khamis, meeting Iranian Assistance foreign Minister for the Arab-African Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari, stressed the need for having “ a new vision in the economic relations between Syria and Iran on the public and private levels.”

“The deep-rooted and consolidated status that distinguishes relations between Syria and Iran in the political and economic domains have imposed the new visions that we started to work through in order to promote the economic relations up to the level of the historic political relations between the two states,” Khamis underlined.

Jaberi Ansari, for his part, expressed happiness over visiting Syria after the great victory in Aleppo, saying “we bless the Syrian people with this victory.”

“Our relations have been special and exceptional throughout decades, they were strategic, so we have to work together to develop these relations,” Ansari said.

Mikdad, Ansari discuss means to develop strategic relations between Syria and Iran

In the same context, deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad discussed with Jaberi Ansari and the accompanying delegation means to develop strategic relations between Syria and Iran in all fields.

The meeting came in the framework of the periodic political meetings held in Damascus and Tehran.

Mikdad briefed the Iranian delegation on the latest political developments in Syria and the region and the achievements of the Syrian Arab Army in combating terrorism, latest of which was the liberation of Aleppo, expressing appreciation for the Iranian political and economic support for Syria.

In turn, Ansari underlined the importance of the victory achieved by the Syrian Arab Army in Aleppo city, stressing that the liberation of Aleppo is a turning point in the history of the crisis in Syria which has bolstered the resolve of Syria and Iran to fight the scourge of terrorism.

The Iranian official reviewed during the meeting the coordination mechanisms between Syria and Iran with regard to political developments, particularly those related to the tripartite meeting between Russia, Iran and Turkey which was held in Moscow on Tuesday.

Ansari affirmed that the relations between Syria and Iran are deep-rooted and firm in the face of the conspiracy, adding that coordination and consultation between the two sides will continue in the interest of the two peoples in Iran and Syria.

In a press statement, Mikdad said that the visit of the Iranian delegation is particularly important after the liberation of Aleppo city and the triumph over all who supported and contributed to funding and arming terrorists, expressing confidence in the full elimination of terrorism all over Syria.

For his part, Ansari said that the delegation’s meetings with Syrian officials will address the latest international developments, especially after the important military achievement of the Syrian Arab army in Aleppo, which is counted on for finding a final solution for the crisis.

He added that resolving the crisis in Syria is based on two key factors; firstly the maximum confrontation of all Takfiri terrorist groups, and the second is the fulfillment of the independent will of Syrian people through an inter-Syrian dialogue, asserting that no Western country is entitled to decide the fate of Syria on behalf of its people.
