Lebanese Hezbollah Party Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah, denied accusations that the Syrian government handed chemical weapons to Hezbollah, depicting these accusations as " baseless and funny."
" We understand the dimensions and backgrounds of these serious accusations," Nasrallah said in a televised speech on Monday, warning against the dangerous repercussions of these accusations on Lebanon and the Lebanese people.
He added : “The U.S. defense secretary said after reaching an agreement with Russia that chemical weapons should not be transferred to Hezbollah and on the next day some Syrian coalition officials claimed that the Syrian government has transferred chemical arms to Hezbollah and some officials claimed that we have received a ton of chemical agents. I it’s funny, it’s not like transporting wheat or flour."
Hezbollah Leader stressed that some Gulf states, especially Saudi Arabia, are insisting on accusing Hezbollah of occupying Syria and building on this to say that what is happening in Syria is not a conflict of countries, projects and nations, but rather a conflict against an “occupation force” which the Arab States should help to confront."
Nasrallah wondered: " Is it reasonable to believe that Hezbollah has the ability to occupy Syria?"
He called upon Saudi Arabia, Gulf States and Turkey to review their positions on what is happening in Syria, saying "betting on the military option in Syria is futile."
He said those parties should be aware that only dialogue and the political solution can rescue Syria and the region and prevent wars and sedition.
" The salvation of Syria and the peoples of the region will be only with the political solution. The continuation of fighting in Syria will not lead to the goals you are looking for."
Nasrallah pointed out that the Arab, Islamic and international public opinion and the Islamic and Christian great societies reject war or fighting and the humanitarian catastrophe which moves from a country to another, asserting that they want to move to dialogue and the political solution.
He held those who reject the political solution and hinder and complicate the situation in Syria responsible for the shedding of each drop of blood in Syria in the next days, weeks and months.
Nasrallah indicated to the existence of tens of thousands of foreign gunmen from all across the world and some of those were released from prisons to go to Syria to fight with financial guarantees.
He hailed the strong strategic relation between the resistance and Syria, asserting that the national resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, in several occasions, thanked Syria for its direct and indirect support.
