Information Minister affrims media important role in shedding light on negative impacts of crisis on society
Information Ministry held on Monday a workshop about “anti-gender-based violence” in cooperation with the National Committee for UNESCO and with the participation of 30 journalists from Damascus, Daraa, and Sweida provinces.

The three- day workshop aims at building capabilities of media men in an academic way to enable them gain necessary skills to prepare information materials in the field of “anti-gender-based violence” and raise awareness to confront the violence with all forms.

Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman affirmed the important role of media to shed light on social issues and the negative repercussions of the crisis on the Syrian society , stressing media necessary role in overcoming the challenges imposed by the crisis.

Tourjman said that “partnership with the international organizations in training journalists will contribute to conveying the global experiences to media in the country which is suffering from siege and sanctions.”

The first day of the workshop was attended by representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA ) focused on the media coverage of anti-gender-based violence and the commitment to terminology and ethics during the coverage.
