Update – Grand Mufti meets European and Italian delegations
Update – Grand Mufti meets European and Italian delegations
Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun said that Syria, the cradle of civilizations and holy religions, will remain an example of fraternity and tolerance.

Hassoun’s remarks came during his meeting held on Friday with an Italian delegation comprising members of the European Front for Defending Syria and League of the Syrian Community in Italy presided by Dr. Jamal Abu Abbas.

He added that Syria has defeated terrorism thanks to the bravery of the Syrian Arab Army, the resilience of its people and wisdom of its leadership.

For their part, members of the delegation expressed appreciation of the resilience of the Syrian people in confronting adversities throughout the years of war, adding that the Syrian people proved to the world that they have been unified in confronting terrorism.

The delegation members stressed that they will convey the real incidents of the Syrian people’ sufferings throughout the crisis due to terrorism.

The Grand Mufti also met a European parliamentary delegation, in which he said that throughout history, Syria has always been and is still a country of love and peace.

Hassoun asserted that Syria faced terrorism and extremism on behalf of Europe and Syria is now paying a high price for holding on to its principles and its independent decision.

He also warned against the threat of extremist ideas infiltrating Europe with the support of some governments.

In turn, the delegation’s member said that their visit to Syria is an opportunity to know more about the reality in events taking place away from the misleading Western media, pointing out that the current events revealed that the Syrian people are committed to the culture of life and they have the will to achieve victory.
