Thousands of Turkish People Continue Protests against Erdogan for Ninth Consecutive Day
Thousands of Turkish people continued protests for the ninth consecutive day, rejecting the call of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to end the widest protests since he took office ten years ago.

Turkish activists spent the night in a makeshift protest camp, sleeping in tents and destroyed buses or wrapped in blankets under plane trees in preparation for new protests against the Turkish government.

What began as a campaign against the removal of Gezi Park in Istanbul's Taksim Square spiraled into an unprecedented display of public anger over the authoritarianism of Erdogan and his party demanding him to step down.
Protesters clashed with the police during the night. An eye witness said that at least one person was injured during the clashes.

Turkish Sözcü Newspaper said that a girl burned herself outside Marmara Hotel in Taksim Square in protest against the policies of the Turkish government.

Istanbul, Ankara and other Turkish cities witnessed Friday night more than 180 protests against Erdogan's statements in which he provoked the Turkish public opinion when he said the opposition is deceiving the masses.

As protests are spreading across Turkey, the Turkish government asked its "friendly countries" to exert pressure on their media outlets as to stop conveying the events taking place in Turkey.
