Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian stressed that the only solution to the crisis in Syria is by allowing the Syrian people to determine their destiny by themselves through a free democratic process without any foreign interferences.

During his meeting with U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos on Wednesday in Tehran, Abdullahian strongly criticized sending weapons to the terrorist groups in Syria.

"The open support of some countries through supplying the terrorist groups and al-Qaeda with arms has notably aggravated the humanitarian situation," said Abdullahian.

For her part, Amos stressed that military solution would not solve the crisis in Syria at all, which demands focusing on reaching a political and diplomatic solution to end the crisis
