Belgian Interior Minister Joelle Milquet warned of the danger of the return of foreigners fighting in Syria to Europe.

In a statement following a meeting of Interior ministers of several European countries, the US, Canada and Australia in Brussels, Milquet said the presence of al-Qaeda-linked terrorists in various areas in Syria means they are on the threshold of Turkey and not far from Europe.

The meeting was centered on the increase in the number of foreign "fighters" in Syria, with Malkih expressing fear that this situation would create security problems for Europe and stressing the importance to discuss means for how to deal with the "fighters" if they returned to Europe.
