People's Assembly delegation discusses in Moscow perils of takfiri ideology proliferation
The People\'s Assembly delegation to the Russian Euro-Mediterranean talks, which is part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) delegation, discussed with high-tanking Russian officials the situation in Syria and the US-led war against it, as well as the perils of proliferation of takfiri ideology around the world.

The delegation, which represents the Arab and External Relations Committee at the People\'s Assembly, briefed the Russian officials on the latest terrorist escalation in Kassab, which is backed by Turkey and supported by Israel, and the systematic displacement of citizens in several areas.

Deputy speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergei Zheleznyak stressed the necessity that parliamentarian institutions put pressure on their governments to confront terrorism and work to curb support for extremist powers, adding that terrorist attacks won\'t remain restricted to the Middle East.

He said the ME files are intertwined. \'\'That\'s why our mission will remain the same; to exert maximum efforts to prevent escalation. \'\'

Zheleznyak pointed out that the Russian State Duma is following with interest and concern the situation in Syria and the Palestinian track, calling for dialogue and talks as a means to resolve crises.

"As parliamentarians, we believe in the will of the voter and emphasize the importance of ballot boxes as a genuine course that reflects the will of nations,\'\' he said.

The delegation also met Andrey Klimov, deputy head of the international affairs committee of the Russian Federation Council and a number of the Council\'s members, with Klimov stressing the importance of realizing peace and adopting dialogue as a means to resolve problems and implementing international legitimacy resolutions.

Meanwhile, the delegation discussed with deputies of the Russian Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov and Grigory Karasin, the situation in Syria and the Middle East, with Bogdanov affirming that the Syrian people can decide their future, adding that Russia\'s stances on Syria and other international issues are based on a respect for international law and legitimacy.

On the Palestinian issue, Bogdanov said the continuous Israeli settlement-building policies seek to impose a fait accompli on the international community and legalizing these settlements, which is impeding Palestinian-Israeli talks.
