Iraqi security and medical sources said Saturday the death toll rose to 33 following the terrorist explosions which targeted an electoral gathering north-east of Baghdad ahead of legislative elections due next Wednesday.

The explosions which hit an electoral gathering at the Industry Club playground to north-east of Baghdad also wounded 40 persons.

So-called "Islam State in Iraq and Sham" claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in a statement posted on one of the websites.
