Moscow: Necessity of affirming Syria’s sovereignty in UNSC resolution No. /2165/
Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Russia supported the resolution No. /2165/ unanimously approved by the UN Security Council on Monday on the humanitarian situation in Syria.

“Through the coordination process, we took into consideration our priorities and concerns regarding its text,” the Ministry said, underlining the necessity of stressing Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry said that main issues were documented in the resolution, considering that “transferring the humanitarian products to Syria will be done according to the main principles of the UN with regard to providing urgent humanitarian aid.”

” To achieve this goal, a UN observer mission will be spread in Syria’s neighboring countries including Jordan, Iraq and Turkey , the main task of which will be guaranteeing the effective supervision on the humanitarian side of the shipments sent to Syria,” the Ministry added.

It pointed out that the resolution expressed deep concern over the mounting of the terrorist activities in Syria, affirming the importance of the national reconciliations, hailing the role of the Syrian Government in facilitating the arrival of the humanitarian aid.

In its statement, the Ministry stressed that the stability in Syria can be achieved only in the diplomatic frameworks, calling for activating the efforts for resuming the Syrian-Syrian dialogue.

On Monday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling for quickening the pace of humanitarian aid deliveries in Syria, authorizing cross-border humanitarian access.
