During its first meeting, Aleppo’s Chamber of Industry elected the engineer Mr. Fares Alshehabi as Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Mr. Abdurahman Skef and the Chamber members elected Mr. Basel Nasri as Deputy Chairmen, Mr. Khaldoun Sukkar as the Secretary, Mr. Mustafa Kawwayeh as Treasurer, and Mr Ousam Khoja and Mr. Bachar Deiri as Office Members. Mr. Abdullatif Koudsi, Mr. Mohammad Ziyad Obari, Mr. Yacoub Abaji, Mr. Henri Addoumiyeh, Mr. Maan Jazba, Mr. Ibrahim Abdallah, Mr. Abdulmajeed Kawakbi, Mr. Oria Haj Ahmad, Mr. George Takfaji and Ms Elen Lahdo were aslo elected Members of the Board.
After the electoral session, the Board held its first meeting where Mr. Fares Alshehab reitterated the importance of the big responsibility the Board is shouldering to eliminate the obstacles that manufacturers are facing. He also stressed that the voice of each manufacturer should be heard and responded to. Mr. Alshehabi said that the Chamber was willing to provid all the support needed so that manufacturing is restored to serve national economy.
In the same meeting, the Chamber’s Board discussed important topics including the rehabilitation of Arqoub and Sheikh Najjar Industrial Zones, vocational training and human resource development issues and many other topics that will help develop industry in Aleppo and in Syria in general
