Shaaban: The tripartite Syrian-Russian-Iranian meeting is a message of support to Syria and rejection of the US aggression on it
Presidential Political and Media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban stressed that the tripartite meeting of the Syrian, Russian and Iranian foreign ministers in Moscow on Friday represented a message of support to Syria and rejection of the US aggression on it, indicating that coordination is ongoing among the three countries regarding all the developments, particularly in the domain of combating terrorism.

In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Russian News Agency “Sputnik”, Shaaban said that the US aggression on Syria is dangerous and unjustified and it came after fabricating what took place in Khan Sheikhoun in Idleb countryside along with launching a misleading campaign by the Western media which plays a key role in targeting Syria on the political and media levels.

Shaaban added that the US tries to adhere to the idea that it is the only power which imposes its hegemony on the world and it seeks to pressure Russia in all domains.

She indicated that terrorists killed hundreds of the Syrian children and some of them were killed in terrorist attacks which targeted the schools, yet the US prevented the Security Council from condemning these crimes and the Western media worked on hiding these crimes from the public opinion.

Shaaban reiterated that Syria doesn’t possess any chemical weapons and this is admitted by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the UN, indicating that what has taken place over the past few days reminds us of what took place in Iraq in 2003 when they claimed that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction to justify the aggression against it and to occupy it.

She indicated that Syria is facing a systematic destruction that targets its infrastructure and culture by regimes that sponsor and support terrorism, on top of which Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey under a US-European cover, indicating that this war couldn’t have been possible without the long borders with Turkey as most terrorists and arms have entered Syria through the Turkish borders.

She affirmed that the Turkish regime is still playing a very destructive role, despite of that it had decided to play the role of the guarantor, in a way that has hindered the tracks of Astana and Geneva, in addition to the continued support provided by the Israeli occupation entity to the terrorists in the south of Syria.

Shaaban said that Syria responded to all the initiatives which might lead to a political solution to the crisis, yet the terrorists and their backers don’t want to reach a political solution, but they want to destroy Syria, indicating that the terrorist groups haven’t adhered to the cessation of hostilities agreement and this prolongs the war and the suffering of the Syrian people.

For his part, Russia’s adviser to UN Special Envoy for Syria Vitaly Naumkin stressed that there is no evidence on the allegations of the US about what took place in Khan Sheikhoun, indicating that it is illogical to use chemical weapons by the Syrian army in a time when it is achieving notable advances on the ground taking into consideration that the Syrian army doesn’t possess such weapons.

Naumkin reiterated Russia’s call for conducting an international objective investigation on what took place, pointing out that the Western countries hinder that and they seek to postpone it indefinitely.
