Syria, Czech sign declaration of intent to restore and protect ruins
Syria and Czech signed a declaration of intent to establish a long-term cooperation relationship in the field of ruins restoration, in addition to protecting the cultural heritage in Syria and organize exhibition in Czech shedding light on Syria’s ruins and culture.

Signing the declaration in Prague, Director General of Antiquities and Museums Ma’amoun Abdul-Karim noted that the declaration provides for launching an international campaign to introduce the Syrian culture to the Czech people through holding several exhibitionS, adding that the two sides agreed TO organize an exhibition on the terror-affected Syrian ruins in Prague next October.

He added that cooperation between the two countries will include preserving the Syrian ancient artifacts and enhancing Syrian capabilities through inviting Syrian experts to benefit from the Czech experience and knowledge in the field of 3d technology and the restoration of a number of damaged artifacts.

For his part, Czech deputy Minister of Culture Vlastislav Ouroda stressed Syria’s rich civilization, regretting the barbaric and systematic damage caused to its ruins and expressing readiness to cooperate with Syria to restore the stolen Syrian artifacts.
