Minister Haidar: Locals of Sabyna in Damascus Countryside will return to their area soon
State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar affirmed on Monday that the government has taken a decision to return the locals from Sabyna in Damascus Countryside to their area, but the reason for the delay is the presence of armed terrorist organizations on the outskirts of the area, affirming that this situation will be addressed soon.

During a meeting with head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) office in Syria Mohammed Adar, Haidar said that many humanitarian crises in Syria have been manufactured by certain sides in order to exploit them in international forums to pressure the Syrian government, pointing out that the local reconciliations project does not discriminate between Syrian or Palestinian citizens.

The minister also underlined the role of UNRWA in caring for the Palestinians and alleviating their suffering.

For his part, Adar expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Syrian government and the facilitations it provides to the UNRWA to carry out its tasks and implement its programs, stressing the UNRWA’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to affected people according to available resources.

In a statement to journalists after the meeting, Haidar said that the UNRWA has doubled its work since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, which came as a result of targeting the Palestinians in a bid to displace them and eliminate their right to return to their occupied territory.

He said that theUNRWA provided services, facilitations, and technical and logistical support to keep the Palestinians in their places of residence or return them to areas which they were forced to leave, assuring to the Palestinian residents of the camps that work is underway to return them to their original areas of residence.

Regarding Yarmouk Camp, Haidar pointed out that the Syrian government is continuing its efforts to end the armed manifestations in it and in surrounding areas.

Regarding to the reconstruction of the camps, Adar said in a similar statement that the UNRWA is ready to provide the necessary support to rehabilitate the infrastructure, which includes schools, hospitals, and services for the refugees.
