Head of Russian delegation to the tenth round of Astana format meeting held in Sochi, Alexander Lavrentiev, said that the current round of talks underlined the effectiveness of the Astana process, which contributes to progress towards a political solution to the crisis in Syria led by Syrians.

He added that Russia stands by the sovereignty, independence and safety of Syria, saying that Russian forces are there to combat terrorism and eliminate terrorist organizations.
