Russia and India voiced concern over the security situation and the continuing violence in Syria, calling on all sides in the government and the opposition to engage in comprehensive national dialogue. In a joint statement issued on Monday following the talks of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Russia and India called on the sides of the conflict to cease violence and engage in comprehensive national dialogue to resolve the crisis politically on the basis of international laws and resolution, including resolutions 2042 and 2043 and the Geneva statement. The statement also addressed a number of other issues including the Iranian nuclear file, the situation in Afghanistan, cooperation in counter-terrorism and combating drug trafficking, and developing cooperation through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and the South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation.
