Issues related to the preparations for the 2nd international conference on Syria due in Geneva next month will be discussed in Paris on Monday evening by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Ministry announced.
Russia Today website said this is the sixth meeting between Lavrov and Kerry, adding that the previous meetings in Berlin, London, Brussels, Moscow and Kiruna also focused on the need to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
The talks between the two ministers held earlier this month in Moscow reached an agreement on holding Geneva 2 conference without preconditions, the website mentioned.
The Russian side sees that the most important issue in the preparations for the conference is setting the list of the participants and ensuring the presence of the opposition groups for settling all issues seriously.
Earlier, Lavrov and Kerry held a telephone conversation on Friday about the preparations for today meeting.
In the same context, Lavrov said that the foreign ministers of countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) supported the initiative of holding international conference on Syria in Geneva.
Earlier, the regular meeting of CSTO foreign ministers started on Monday morning in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, with the participation of the Russian Foreign Minister.
