Speaker of the People's Assembly, Mohammad Jihad al-Laham condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist bombing which targeted the Southern Suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut on Thursday.
A car bomb blast took place in al-Rwais area near Mahfouz shops in the suburb and caused a fire to a number of residential buildings, claiming 18 lives and causing injury to 291 people.
"This terrorist crime against the symbol of resistance aims to explode the situation in Lebanon and thrust the entire region in internal conflicts," al-Laham said in a statement Friday.
He added that this bombing "cannot be separated from the rings of the takfiri terrorism hitting Syria, Iraq and Egypt and backed by the Western colonial powers and their tools in the region."
The statement pointed out that these powers aim to fragment and weaken the Arab countries in service of the Zionist project in the region.
It stressed the People's Assembly's support for the Arab peoples in Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt in the face of this extremist terrorist thinking.
Information Minister: The terrorist act offers direct service to Israel
Earlier, Minister of Information Omran al-Zoubi described the terrorist crime in Beirut's Southern Suburb as a coward act that comes in service of the Israeli enemy.
"Syria strongly condemns that coward act and offers condolences to the families of victims and hopes quick recovery for the wounded," the Minister said in a statement.
He added that the terrorist act in the Southern Suburb offers direct service to the Israeli enemy and the states which put themselves at their disposal.
National Media Council: The terrorist act will increase the resistance's determination
Meanwhile, the National Media Council denounced the terrorist act in Beirut, saying it will only increase the determination of the Lebanese national resistance to achieve its goal in defeating the Israeli-U.S. project in the region.
He pointed out that the explosion coincides with the 7th anniversary of the resistance's victory over the Zionist entity in July War of 2006 when Israel launched an aggression on Lebanon.
The Council offered deep condolences to the Lebanese martyrs' families and wished the injured speedy recovery.
Syrian Community in Hungary condemn terrorist attacks in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq
The Syrian community in Hungary and the "Forum for Syria" condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on Beirut's Southern Suburb last Thursday and the heinous crimes committed by Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization in Syria and Iraq.
In a statement, the community and Forum stressed that the terrorist attacks, such as the one on the Southern Suburb, will strengthen the Resistance and its people.
They stressed that targeting the Syrian society by the armed terrorist groups aims at destroying Syria's future through depleting its human and material capabilities.
They said that Syria, the country of history and tolerance and the cradle of civilizations and religions, will never bow, stressing their support to the Syrian leadership, army and people and expressing faith in the ability of the Syrian people to overcome the crisis.
