SANA embraces artistic talents of its employees in a collective exhibition
The collective art exhibition entitled “SANA… Media and Art” has brought together the artworks of 24 talented employees and photographers working at the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) at Abu Rummana Cultural Center in Damascus.

The exhibition, opened on Monday, showcases 70 artworks including 34 professional photographs, in addition to hand-made crafts, sculptures as well as oil and digital art paintings whose themes varied between documenting the steadfastness of Syrian people under current circumstances and shedding light on the humanitarian dimension and aesthetics of the Syrian society and environment.

In a statement to journalists, Director-General of SANA, Abdul Raheem Ahmed, said that the exhibition conveys a media and artistic message as it reveals more about the talents and creativity of SANA workers in addition to the fact that they master their jobs whether they are editors, photographers or employees.

For his part, Hazem Sabbagh, a translator at the English Bulletin in the agency who participated with 4 digital paintings, praised this initiative which encouraged him to get back to drawing after long years of suspension, adding that the exhibition provided an opportunity to revive his passion for this hobby and attempt to further develop it.

The Editor at the Internet Department in the agency, Tareq al-Qaisi, participated with 6 oil paintings and 2 portraits for his colleagues in SANA, the martyred journalists Mohammed Nasser and Ali Ahmed.

Al-Qaisi underlined the importance of this exhibition in giving chance for art amateurs at SANA to reach plastic art audience, expressing hope that it would be an annual event.

Journalist and photographer Ammar Safarjalani tried to document the heroic achievements made by the Syrian Arab army in his three photos while Editor Rania Othman attempted to feature the stages of current crisis in the country through her 5 sculptures of the Syrian soldier, the tree of martyrs and others which depict the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the joy of victory.

Employee Mohannad al-Kinani participated with several hand-made crafts out of paper and Employee Somar A’saifouri showcased a number of wood carved sculptures.

The exhibition lasts till next Thursday.
