President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday received a letter from President Daniel Ortega Saavedra of Nicaragua in which he congratulated him on his re-election for another 7-year term in office.
In his letter, the Nicaraguan president relayed to President al-Assad his appreciation, and that of the Nicaraguan people and government, for President al-Assad\'s efforts in boosting stability and peace, hailing Syria\'s unique model that has "put it in the league of the countries which encourage a world where dialogue, solidarity and integration prevail."
President al-Assad\'s election victory is, moreover, a confirmation of a spirit of peace that characterizes the Syrian people, the Nicaraguan president added in his letter.
President al-Assad also received a number of congratulation cables from Arab and international parties, bodies, figures and Syrian expatriates associations on his winning of the presidential elections.
The cables are from the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Belarus Sergey Gaydukevich, Serbian Gathering for the promising, Chairman of the National Social Movement in Bulgaria, Chairwoman of the Civil Initiative Organization in Bulgaria against War in Syria and Iran Biba Rashiva, Leader of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine Natalia Vitrenko, Leader of the Shia Imami Ismailia Muslims council Prince Karim al-Husseini Aga Khan, Deputy Secretary General and responsible of Foreign affairs of the Muslims Unity Council in Pakistan, Regional Secretary General of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party in Lebanon Fayez Shuker.
The cables also came from the Syrian expatriates\' gatherings, Arab and foreign figures like Chairman of the Arab-Cuban Union Alfredo Darwish , Secretary General of the Union Hawan D\'flar Amal, Chairman of the Syrian United Club in Santiago in Chili Juan Carlos Sarkis, the Syrian Expatriates Association in Ukraine, the National Committee of the Syrian Expatriates in Holand, Secretary General of the Palestinian Liberation Front Ali Issac, Chairman of the Nasserite Nationalist Organization in Lebanon Samir Sharkas and Sheikh Kamil Nasser from the Levant Scholar Union.
Earlier, President al-Assad received congratulatory letters from the Russian, Democratic People\'s Republic of Korea and Venezuelan heads of state.
