The Syrian Ministry of Culture chose this to nominate its anniversary celebration held in Dar AlAssad for Culture and Arts. Prime Minister, Dr. Wael Alhalaki cut the ribbon for the fine arts exhibition, the Syrian Book Commission exhibition and the Cinema Corner. Many beautiful fine art works were shown. Solhi Alwadi Institute’s students and orchestra performed several patriotic songs and plays led by Maestro Mohammad Zaghloul and singer Adnan Fathallah. Addressing media, Dr. Alhalaki said that this activity of the ever growing Syrian civilization that always embraced openness and diversity reflected the improving situation in Syria thanks to the great sacrifices of the great Syrian army. He said that with the crisis entering its fourth year, the Ministry of Culture is shouldering the huge mission of facing the cultural invasion and takfiri terrorist ideas alien to this peace loving country. Mr. Isam Khalil, the Minister of Culture said that great nations rely on their cultural heritage when facing structural crises and this is exactly what Syria is doing. The great Syrian cultural heritage is our best weapon to face takfiri and terrorist and defend our civilized values. This heritage will unify all Syrian and lead them to victory. This is precisely why this celebration is a day of national reconciliation in face of terrorism that cannot be exterminated by military action alone. Education, communication and culture play a major role in that. He said that Syria is determined to achieve national reconciliation to achieve victory. Mr. Zouheir Ramadan, Chairperson of the Syndicate of Artist said the celebration is a day of national reconciliation for all Syrian stressed the importance of establishing the mindset of open dialogue in service of a sovereign and independent Syria.
Mr. Jihad Bakfalouni, Director General of the Syrian Book Commission that achieving national reconciliation based on an open and enlightened dialogue that acknowledge and accept the other party is a must. He said that the Commission participation came through 650 book titles it has published. The books ranged from children books to poetry, economy, politics and translations of international publications. The Syrian National Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Misak Baghbodorian, played several international music pieces. Attending the celebration were parliament members and civil society figures as well as high ranking politicians including Mr. Safwan Qudis, SG of the Arab Socialist Union Party, Ahmad Alahmad, SG of the Arab Socialists Movement Party and Khalaf Almuftah, member of the Regional Command of the Arab Socialist Baath Party. The ministers of Information, Mr. Omran Alzubi, of Social Affairs, MS Kinda Alshammat, and Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs Dr. Ali Hedar as well as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hamed Hassen also attended.
