Minister of Economy and Trade, Mr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Sha'ar, has issued, in coordination with Syrian Central Bank, decree number seven hundred and fourty six, with reference to recommendation of the Economic Committee, to permit craftsmen, who are members of the Jewelers Union, to import crude and manufactured gold, in addition to manufactured golden and non-golden jewelries. The Union of Jewelers will detect the imported gold, to check its weight and caliber, before selling it. The decree further permitted exporting locally-manufactured gold, including in-laid golden jewelers, and crumbled golden pieces, after turning them into golden pieces, with a weight and caliber to be specified by the Union, on condition that jewelers comply with a number of procedures before exporting.
