Syrian Science Olympiad Crowns its Winners

The national commission of the Syrian Science Olympiad crowned on Tuesday the winners on the national level in Math, Physics and Chemistry as qualifiers took place during the last two days with the participation of 322 young people from all provinces.

The national commission crowned the top students in Chemistry; Yehya al-Sa'ati from Damascus in the first place, Isam al-Annouf from Damascus in the second place, Mohammad Taif Asid from Damascus countryside in the third place.

In Physics, Hassan al-Abdullah from Der Ezzor was crowned in the first place, Osama Karkout from Damascus countryside in the second place and Ali Ramadan from Tartous in the third place.

In Math, Abdul-Baset al-Joudi from Homs was crowned in the first place, Ahmad Rami from Aleppo in the second place and Ahmad Rajab from Idleb in the third place.

The first student in each subject won a gold medal and an award of SYP 150,000, while students who ranked second won the silver medal and an award of SYP 125,000 and students ranking third won bronze medals and SYP 100,000.

The top ten students in each subject will join the national team to take part in a closed scientific forum at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology.

The Syrian Science Olympiad was launched in 2006. It is a scientific competition in basic sciences for pre-university students.

The national commission of the Syrian Science Olympiad, established in 2009, focuses on developing and motivating young people in various fields.
